We are excited to start our Team Member Tuesday profile with Regional Manager, Lisa Barton. Lisa's Q&A profile highlights all the reasons why we love having her on the BDMG team!

How long have you worked for BDMG?

I started working for Bird Dog in 2005. It has been a fun journey getting our territory up and running. Fifteen years later, we are a strong team of 7 working with children and adults. It is a wonderful job that offers fun, challenges, and flexibility.

Tell us a little bit about your family.

I have been married to a wonderful man for 34 years. We have two amazing sons that live in the area. I am very blessed to have both my parents and my in-laws in our lives. My favorite memories are of times we spend together.

What is your favorite quote?

One I truly believe in is “Everything happens for a reason”. Trying to find out that reason can be hard, but God always leads the way.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

My husband and I have always dreamed of doing a wine tour in Italy. I’m excited to say, that we just booked our trip to Tuscany and Venice to celebrate our 35th anniversary!

If you were to retire and work at Disney World, what would be your dream job?

This was an easy question for me. My favorite princess is Belle. My dream job would be to wear her beautiful yellow gown and make children smile.

Do you have a favorite non-profit or organization that you like to volunteer for or support?

I was fortunate to be able to volunteer for a local Hospice when work was less busy. I think they are an amazing organization that provides care and peace for both the patient and their family.

What is the funniest situation you have run in to while doing child-resistant package testing?

I was commenting on how much I liked a little boy’s Mickey Mouse shirt and showed him that I had Mickey Mouse on my watch. He looked me right in the eye and said, “We are so cool!” I said, “ Yes we are!!” I truly love hearing their stories and love when I get a hug.

Evolution of Child-Resistant Testing Protocols for Adult-Use Effectiveness

Our test proctors administering adult-use package testing are often asked, “Why are you only testing adults 50-70 years of age?” Here’s the story behind that decision. When the U.S. Congress passed the Poison Prevention Packaging Act of 1970 (PPPA), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) required child-resistant packaging for specific drugs and household chemicals that could harm children. Package manufacturers developed and introduced new child-resistant packaging to comply with the requirements. Per the PPPA, the specialty packaging required certification that they were child-resistant. At the time, the adult-use effectiveness portion of the package test protocols included adult test subjects 18-45 years of age, a significant change from our current adult-use effectiveness subjects who are 50-70.
